Show your employees how much you appreciate them by designing office spaces that promote wellness. We look at the five senses and give some easy tips that will help keep your employees happy and healthy.

Air
Air circulation is important so make sure vents are kept clean. If possible open a window and let some natural air in. Live plants can also help purify the air. Don't forget about the temperature. Everyone is different. If individuals can't control their own thermostat in their workspace provide fans or heaters.
Light
Provide different levels of lighting and get rid of fluorescents which can cause headaches. Adjustable task lighting at each desk will help reduce eye strain. Also think about color. White desks may seem clean and modern, but white is reflective and can increase glare. Choose a softer grey to reduce eye fatigue.
Noise
Equipment, phones ringing, loud talkers, heavy typers the list goes on and on. Acoustic tiles on the walls and ceiling will absorb and muffle some of it. Personal headphones are great for the super sensitive and even white noise machines can help soften the noise.

Nature
Windows are a wonderful way to let nature into any work space, but not always possible so add some artwork of nature scenes instead. Choose wood tones for your furniture and natural fabrics such as wool for upholstery. Paint can also influence mood, try calming blues to mimic the sky and water.
Ergonomics
One size does not fit all when it comes to desks and chairs. Someone over 6 feet tall is going to need a very different set up from someone under 5 feet. Do you know who if left handed and who is right? It may make a difference what side their desk drawers are on. With so many stand up desks available these days there is no reason why anyone that wants to try it shouldn't be able to.
Your brand may have a specific aesthetic, but if you want your employees happy and healthy let them personalize their immediate work area to fit their needs.
